"...for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name."
Psalms 138:2
Psalms 138:2
Maybe you are wondering why I am always using the old King James Version of the Bible when there's too many available newer version such as New International Version (NIV), Today's English Version (TEV), New Living Translation (NLT) and so on and so forth. You may tell to me that these newer versions are much easy to read and that the KJV is hard to be understood. You may tell me that there's too many obsolete words found in the KJV. You may say that the newer versions are most reliable than KJV or it was no harm using the newer version than the KJV. Oh you may find me boring since I am using an old english style bible, but how wonderful and powerful the poetic structure of the KJV, as if I have been transported in the time of Shakespeare.
Now my friend I am not a bible scholar nor a graduate from a bible school. So how can I defend the KJV if I am not a scholar in the field of bible versions, how can I say that the KJV is the uncorrupted Word of God and that the other version are just perVersion of the bible and was corrupted. I honestly will say to you that my faith in the KJV bible is a product of faith in the Word of God and after some study in the subject of versions from several fundamental bible believers and authors.
You may say that may faith in the KJV bible is only a product of just agreeing in the authors who defended the KJV, oh well yes that one also and I believe them since they also are people who love the Word Of God and are fearful to do any change in the bible.
The Bible said in Psalms 12:7
"The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever."
God promised to preserved His words when preserving it means to preserved exactly what it is. It is not that when you like to preserved some mangoes you will change it to pineapples. And what will you feel when you are preserving some mangoes and someone have changed it to pineapples?
Consider also the importance of God's word and it's preservation from the following verses.
Matthew 24:35 reads, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my WORDS shall not pass away."
Psalms 138:2 says, ". . . for thou hast magnified thy WORD above all thy name."
Psalms 119:89 says, "For ever, O LORD, thy WORD is settled in heaven."
Now we know that God gave so much important in His words and magnify His word above all His name. Are we then allowed to add or remove some words from the Bible? Please think and consider the following verses.
Deuteronomy 4:2 "Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you."
Proverbs 30:6 "Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar."
Revelation 22:18-19 "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
From the above verses will you be a partaker of those who remove/add words from the bible, if you use their bible you are one of them and consider the warning from the bible. It is truly wonderful that God gave us warning about subtracting and adding from His words in the beginning, middle and end of the Bible this is to emphasize the importance of His words. So have fear and take action today.
